Want to see what your peers are doing? There are many who have anything set in limestone yet. The entries highlighted in yellow have issues as projects. Remember, what is a project to you may not suffice for IB and CAS.
IB requires candidates to work for at least 1-2 months and 24 hours toward a CAS project that has a demonstrable outcome, i.e., something to show for your efforts. You must lead and plan. Therefore, coaching fulfills the leadership aspect of the CAS project, but how did you plan? How will demonstrate that planning? Check out examples below.
Want to see what your Class of '26 peers are doing?
Many candidates want to create a blog, an Instagram account, a website, a YouTube channel to explore a variety of issues or bring awareness to an issue. One of the major issues with creating a website, adding videos, or writing a blog is your audience. Who will read or watch what you create? How will you publicize it? What good is awareness without action. In order for me to approve projects like these, please determine how you will answer the questions I just posed. What can you do beyond making someone aware of the issue(s) surrounding your idea(s)? Here are some ideas from your peers.
Work with an outside group
Grace S (DP '25) decided to work with the New York Wolf Conservation Center so that her website would reach a larger audience. Great idea.
Bring the page to life
Sulaiman B. (DP '25) had the idea to create a food blog. As I explained above, who is going to read a random blog? He came to a lunch session and brainstormed a bit. Eventually, he came up with the idea to pair the food blog with a supper club where he will invite his friends to make dishes based on a theme, e.g. South Asian food, Tex Mex, etc. Then, he suggested that he might bring the food to TOK class in the spring. Yes please.
Anything can be a CAS experience. A CAS project just takes a bit more initiative, planning, and leadership. You've got this one.
Four juniors (DP '24) discuss their IB "Creativity, Activity and Service" projects, which span from junior to senior year
Many students here at Marshall create blogs, web pages, etc. Instead of including all of them on the front page, here is a partial list. Want to get involved and perhaps make one of these your own CAS project? I post these links during students' junior year, so some of them may have gone defunct since then.
