Okuri Inu

Okuri Inu (送り犬) is a yokai that follows travelers walking alone at night, resembling a large, wolf-like dog. If the traveler stumbles, it may attack, but if they continue walking steadily and acknowledge its presence with respect, it will simply escort them safely.
