On secondment at the Inria centre of UB since 2022
Since my appointment to the University of Bordeaux, first as a lecturer (2001) and then as a professor (2014), I have been in charge of creating the Bachelor's degree (L1, L2, L3) in Cognitive Science (co-responsible with JB Burie) in 2003, then, from 2004 onwards, I supervised the 4 specialities of the Master's degree in Cognitive Science, before offering an undifferentiated Master's degree (research or professional) in Cognitive Science with its two curricula, i.e., " Ergonomics for Health" and "Technology, Ergonomics, Cognition and Handicap" (Academic direction until 2022)
My research at the inria centre (Flowers team) and at the BPH lab (Active team) focuses on cognition and digital technologiesas they intrinsically motivate the user for learning and human performance.
The main issues are the design (CHI, UX, technology acceptance and adoption, in particular), development and proofofeffectiveness of innovative devices compared to traditional means. To tackle these issues, I favor user-centered approaches (and in particular participatory methods) and (quasi-) RCT methods in field studies setting, in order to address inherent societal problems and challenges (reducing social inequalities at school, improving societal inclusiveness, etc.).
As a result, my work involves research in computer science, and cognitive psychology, with links to the rehabilitation sciences (accessibility and compensation issues) and education sciences (digital transformation of school), and therefore contributions from the Humanities and Social Sciences (psychological and educational sciences), the Digital Sciences (CHI, IoT, AI, EdTech, etc.), as well as the Life and Health Sciences (medicine & rehabilitation) (see VOSviewer map here).
