Welcome to Heather's Portfolio
During the global project me and my partner Chaim worked collabortaly to compare and contrast our research. I chose Italy for my country and my partner chose Switzerland. First we both conducted our individual research which included findings of demographics, population, languages, climate, technology culture and usage and digital divide. Once we both finalized our research we sent each other our documents and began peicing together our power point presentation. My partner set up a collaborative presnetation for us and set up the slides. He then added his research to the designated slides. From there I added my research and began setting up the layout and design. Once we got the presentation to a solid point we made our final touches while communicating with one another. The presentation it self displayed the same information from each country touching Population, demographics, digital divide, and technology usage. We used charts and quick art to compare and contrast the research. And finally we added our reference page. Because I of course referenced my research I copied my reference's onto the presentation, while adding some new citation that I used solely on the power point.
One interesting fact I learned during our research was that Italy is comparable in size to Florida and Georgia combined. While Switzerland is only comparable to the size of Maryland. Italy's population is about 7x the size of Switzerland so this doesn't come to be a surprise.
Note: This is a bar graph I created to use in our PowerPoint presentation to display a visual representation of the population difference between Italy and Switzerland.
Going in to the global project I didn't think working with a partner would be easy to do with little ways to contact each other. Me and my partner only contacted with one another using our student email. Of course we both have busy lives so the contact we did have was minimal but straight to the point. I was pleasantly surprised how well we were able to work together to complete the project. My partner Chaim set up the original PowerPoint presentation that was pretty barebones but including the slides we needed. He then broke down his research into bullet points under each slide. He had completed his research before me so this was a good start. After I completed my research I added my research that was broken down and began formatting. I was able to turn our bullet points into something more visually appealing to the eye. I then added pictures and animations. After I set up my information tweaking the format, we then contacted each other again to go over the final adjustments we wanted to make and got each others approval. The lesson I learned from this assignment was that you can affectively work on group project together with little to no contact and make it work. Me and my partner both shared equal parts in completing the assignment and created a successful presentation of our research.
