Hello. My name is Heather Sanderson and I just finished my 8th year of teaching middle school science. I did not take a linear route into teaching. I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1999. I then got married and stayed home to raise my two daughters for the next ten years. Once my second daughter was in school full time I began substitute teaching. I eventually found myself in a long term science substitute teaching position and realized that I LOVED teaching science and decided to apply for the ARC program to get certified. After I completed the ARC program, I got a job teaching middle school science and that is where I am today. I am currently enrolled at Eastern Connecticut State University and am in the process of completing my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. In my ePortfolio I am hoping to show my progression with technology and how I have implemented technology in my science class. I will also present research on how 1:1 iPad use in my classroom has lead to higher academic achievement among my students.
