Counselling/Therapy

What brings people to therapy?

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons.  Maybe a life event, a bereavement or break up of a relationship is an immediate concern. Sometimes people notice that they are feeling depressed or anxious, or have difficulty sleeping and this draws their attention to an issue on a deeper level that they need to address.  Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where our old ways of coping just don't work anymore.

"Listen to your being. It is continuously giving you hints; it is a still, small voice. It does not shout at you, that is true. And if you are a little silent you will start feeling your way. Be the person you are." - Osho

What is therapy / counselling and how can it help

The therapeutic relationship is different from other relationships - it has boundaries and offers the qualities of warmth, acceptance and compassion.  This provides a safe space to explore vulnerabilities, holding them in kind awareness and attention, allowing for personal growth and change.
