RECITAL FAQ

Where are the recitals?

All the recitals are at UW-Platteville's Center for the Arts Brodbeck Concert Hall.

Does my dancer have to attend the recitals?

Yes!  Each dance is required to participate in their mini show as well as both big shows.

When should we arrive?

Students are expected to arrive one hour early for each show your dancer is participating in to get your things set up in the dressing room and your dancer ready to go.

What should I pack for my dancer?

Water & clean snacks.

What about dressing rooms?

Each class will be assigned a dressing room.

How will I know when my dancer should line up?

A livestream of the recital will be shown backstage.  Dancers should line up in the hallway 3 numbers before their routine.  If your dancer does not make it on the stage in time, they will not be allowed to run on in the middle of the dance.  HD Academy staff will line the dancers up.

Can my dancer come out to the audience when they are not dancing?

No. All dancers must stay backstage for the entire recital.  There will be a TV that will be live-streaming the recital backstage.  Dress rehearsal is the dancer's chance to watch the show live.

How long will the shows last?

The big shows will last approximately 4-5 hours.  The mini shows will last about 2 hours.

Can my dancer go out and see their family during intermission?

Yes, however costumes worn out of the dressing room area must be covered.  The show is a surprise to our audience and we want to keep it that way by covering the costumes.  Please bring a robe if you would like to go out during intermission.

Does my dancer have to stay until the end of the recital?

Yes, all dancers are involved in the finale number at the end of the recital.

Can I take pictures or videotape during the recital?

No. Absolutely no flash photography or videotaping is allowed.  Flash photography is very distracting to the dancers and audience members.  However, pictures may be taken after the show.  Recital DVDs will be available for purchase.
