Q. What comes with the Chromebook?

A. Once all paperwork has been signed and approved, your student will be issued a Chromebook, carrying case, Chromebook charger and strap. All four components are required to be turned back in at the end of the year in good condition OR upon transferring out of the district.

Q. I am nervous about my child carrying a Chromebook back and forth to school. Is my child required to have a Chromebook or can we opt out of the 1:1 program?

A. Technology is an integral part of 21st Century Instruction and Learning. They are just as important as textbooks; in some cases, they will serve as the textbook. Therefore, to have equal access to learning each child is required to have a Chromebook. Teachers and Administrators will continually instill the importance of utilizing and carefully handling the Chromebook to teach our students to adequately and responsibility care for their Chromebook. We ask that you do the same at home.

Q. Is my student required to have his/her Chromebook in a carrying case?

A. Yes. The district provides each student with a Chromebook, a case, a charger and a strap. Your student must keep their Chromebook in their carrying case at all times. Carrying cases and Chromebooks must be carried by hand or strap while going to and from school.

Q. Will my student need any other materials for the Chromebook?

A. Your student's Chromebook is not supplied with a mouse. If your student would like a mouse, you can purchase one. The mouse can either be wireless or have a wire.

Q. What is the device protection fee and what happens if the Chromebook is damaged by an accident?

A. If your student's Chromebook or any of the other three components are deliberately damaged, lost or stolen the following will be charged to you (Chromebook $275, Carrying Case $30, Charger $25, Strap $5). Q. Will my student be required to have his/her Chromebook with them every day?

A. Yes. Your student must be prepared each day with his/her Chromebook, carrying case, charger and strap. Your student is also responsible to have any other required classroom materials that are necessary for the classes they have. Students in grades 6-8 will be required to carry Chromebooks to and from school each day. Students in grade 2-5 will be required to transport the Chromebooks to and from school some of the time.

Q. Will my student be required to have his/her Chromebook in every class?

A. Yes. Your student must be prepared during each of his/her classes. Your student's Chromebook is required in every class period, including physical education and all electives.

Q. What if my student forgets to charge his/her Chromebook battery?

A. Your student is required to keep their Chromebook charged at all times. Your student's charger should be kept in the carrying case when not plugged in at home. Each classroom will be equipped with extra charging stations in case of emergency.

Q. What happens if my student's Chromebook or accessories are lost or stolen?

Q. How do I get technical support or questions answered?

A. While your child's teacher should be your first point of contact for any issues Microsoft 365 has a great support site. You can find it -> HERE

Q. Can a student/parent/guardian repair a Chromebook?

A. If at any point your student's Chromebook does not seem to be working properly, report it to a teacher. The teacher will then contact district support to make sure everything is working properly. The district has a wonderful technical support staff that will work to make sure your student's device is up and running to its full potential. do not open the Chromebook under any circumstance.
