Devin Takahashi

Devin Takahashi known as “Coach Devin” to his student athletes did not take the normal path to education. Obtaining his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Coach Devin found himself in the crossroads of education and the judiciary system. Choosing to be proactive and not reactive to the choices and the behaviors of the youth, Coach Devin found a need for more positive male influencers in education to help build the future leaders of the community. Today, Coach Devin is a SPED math teacher, Football Coach and Saturday Detention school coordinator. He believes that through education and athletics, values can be instilled into our youth and make a difference in the community.

“SOLID” Program focusing on building young student athletes into the future leaders of our communities.

The “SOLID” program is a 6 week program that will focus on young student athletes from grades 9-12. The layout of this program will take place with the Nanakuli Junior Varsity and Varsity football teams during the summer off season strength and conditioning training. The idea is to strengthen our youth physically but also morally to have an influence beyond high school. This program will focus on educating and mentoring young student athletes on the subjects of the values of education, drug and alcohol abuse, and domestic violence. In this current session we will be focusing on Teen Dating Violence (TDV) and Domestic Violence (DV). The mission is to help shape our future leaders and silence the stereotypes to help flatten the curve on the leeward coast.
