Understanding Fractions in Grade 3

Fractions are used in everyday life by everyday people...even 3rd graders like you! In fact, it's used almost everywhere and in almost everything you do. When you divide a pizza, measure something like time or length, use money...you can represent that number as a fraction. In fact, every job and every math course higher than this one will have fractions so it is important for you to know how to use them.

In third grade students develop an understanding that fractions are numbers. This 4-week blended learning course is aligned with the California Common Core Standards for Math introduces students to key fractions vocabulary, visual fractions representations, early fractions concepts, and strategies to solve real-world fractions word problems. Scaffolded lesson are provided through interactive videos, engaging practice activities, assessments, and collaboration with classmates and teacher. Students progress through the course at their own pace and are expected to complete all learning activities by the end of the week.
