A fraction can be represented many ways, that is why some people have a hard time with them. After this week, you should be able to recognize how fractions are represented and which fraction model is best to use in a given situation.
Look at the different ways fractions can be written in number form and word form (left picture). Look at the different ways 3/4 can be represented visually (top picture).
By the end of Week 2, you will use your understanding of fractions to represent fractions using visual models like the number line, in addition to 2-dimensional closed figures, bar model, group of things, number form and word form.
