Valentine's Day is a special day for our family, and we always make sure to celebrate it together. As a family, we like to exchange small gifts like chocolates, stuffed animals, and handmade cards. It's a fun way to show each other how much we care. We make sure that everyone gets a little something, including our son Mason.
Later in the evening, my husband and I have a special date night while Mason spends time with his grandparents. We usually go out to dinner or watch a movie, and it's a nice opportunity for us to have some quality time together.
After our date, we come back home and have a family fondue night. We have a cheese fondue, followed by a chocolate fondue for dessert. We all enjoy dipping fruits, marshmallows, and other treats into the melted chocolate.
As for including future children in the traditions, we plan to continue our Valentine's Day celebrations as a family. We'll make sure to involve them in the gift-giving and fondue night, and find fun ways to include them in our date night when they're old enough. It's a tradition we all love, and we're excited to share it with our growing family.
Easter is another fun event in our house. Early in the morning the Easter bunny comes and leaves a basket for Mason to open as soon as he gets up! Adam, Mason, and I usually attend Easter Mass in the morning and then go to my parents house or a park for a picnic, fishing, Easter egg hunt, and family. Easter has always been spent with our entire family, from the time my brother was one year old it has been spent at a park in a non-traditional celebration. We usually start at 10 AM and don’t finish until the sun goes down.
Spring is a crazy time for birthdays for us. Our first birthday celebration starts on Valentines Day and continues through June. Birthdays have always been a big deal in our family, and we love to celebrate them together. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone gets to feel special on their big day. We usually start by waking up the birthday boy or girl with breakfast in bed and a few small presents. It's a sweet way to start the day and get the party started.
Then, we have a family gathering where we invite all of our extended family members to come and celebrate with us. It's always a great time catching up with everyone and having a lot of laughs. We usually have a big party with lots of food, cake, and games. We also make sure to get a family photo to commemorate the special day.
Our family is lucky to have four generations of family members, including great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and our youngest additions, Mason and baby Bryson. Everyone loves to shower the birthday person with love and attention, and it's so special to see the generations come together to celebrate. One of the most special things is that many of us share birthdays with other family members. Adam and my grandma (Gigi) have the same birthday of April 18, mine is 5 days later on the 23rd. We always spend our birthdays togehter. Austin and my grandpa (Bills) share a birthday June 17th so we always celebrate their birthdays together as well. We try to make birthdays so special and make it very about them.
As for including future children in the traditions, we plan on continuing to make birthdays a big deal in our family and involving them in the planning process as well. We also want to make sure that they feel just as special as their older siblings and cousins, so we will make sure to give them the same amount of attention and love on their birthdays.
