StudyPay is an app that lets you see how much money you’ve made in Amazon gift codes and request to cashout (in amounts of $5, $10, $20 etc.) whenever you want as long as you have a balance of $5 or more.
How to install:
1. Download the StudyPay App from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Open the StudyPay App and enter in your given username and password.
Everything is now set up!
You can use this app to see your current balance or to request a cash out!
Cashing out means using the StudyPay app to turn money you have earned so far in the study you are participating in (reflected in the Current Balance box of the Home screen) into real gift cards you can use.
In order to cash out, you first need to navigate to the Home screen; this is the default screen you see when opening the app. If you aren’t already on the Home screen, navigate here by either clicking the 3-bar icon in the upper left corner of the screen and selecting Home, or by clicking on the Home tab in the middle left part of the screen. On this page, you will see that StudyPay allows you to cash out in fixed amounts. Under Select the Gift Card Amount, choose the amount you would like that is less than your Current Balance. Then select the Gift Card Type you would like (right now StudyPay only offers Amazon gift cards, but we are working on providing more options in the near future!). Now, click Cash Out.
A notification will appear letting you know your request for a gift card has been sent. You should see a small red dot appear next to “My Gift Cards” and your gift card should appear on the My Gift Cards page within a few minutes. Sometimes, it may take 1-3 business days for your request to be approved. If your gift card does not appear after this time, please reach out to a member of the Research Team and they will assist you to receive your gift card.
After you cash out to request a gift card and StudyPay approves your request, you will be able to find the gift card on the My Gift Cards page. To navigate to the My Gift Cards page, you can either click on the 3-bar icon in the top left corner of your screen and then click on My Gift Cards, or you can click on the My Gift Cards tab in the middle of your screen. This page will show you all the gift cards that you have requested and been approved for so far.
To use a gift card, click on Show Details next to the gift card you want to use. On this Card Details page, follow the instructions provided in order to copy your Claim Code, visit the appropriate webpage to redeem it, paste your claim code, and apply it.
You may want to indicate that the gift card has been used in the StudyPay app. In order to do this, find your way back to the Card Details page of the gift card you just used and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Mark Gift Card as Used. This will make it easy for you to see which gift cards you still have available to redeem. You will not be able to unmark the gift card as used, but do not worry, because you will still be able to see all the necessary details if you need them. Note that each claim code only works once, and that the gift card will always be visible in the app; there is no way to delete or hide it.
StudyPay can send you notifications to let you know when a new amount has been added to your Current Balance and when a gift card you requested is available. StudyPay can also send you a weekly summary of your activity on the app.
In order to enable these notifications, you first need to ensure that notifications have been turned on in your phone’s settings. If you are using an iPhone, open your phone’s Settings app and tap Notifications. Scroll down to StudyPay and tap on it, and then toggle the button next to Allow Notifications to the right. If you are using an Android device, open your phone’s Settings app, tap Apps & Notifications > Notifications. Find StudyPay and click App Notifications and toggle the button to On.
Now that notifications are enabled in your phone’s settings, you can enable notifications in the StudyPay app itself. Open StudyPay and click on the 3-bar icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Click on Settings where you will see three options under Notification Preferences. To receive the Weekly Summaries, toggle the button right. If you want to be updated each time a new amount is added to your Current Balance, turn on the button next to New Amount. If you want to be notified when a new gift card is available, turn on the button next to Gift Card Available. Note that you may not receive a notification when a gift card is added to your account if you are in the app when your request is approved. Instead, a small red dot will appear next to “My Gift Cards,” and you should be sure to check the My Gift Cards page to verify that you’ve received your gift card, noting that it may take a few minutes before it appears.
If you would like to disable notifications for any of these options, you can simply toggle the button left for each one in the in-app Settings menu, or you can disable notifications to StudyPay in your phone’s Settings menu following the same instructions above.
