Mate App for Embrace is an app that will allow you to see your own sleep and physical activity. It will also allow the smartwatch to communicate with your phone.
How to install:
1. Download the “Mate App for Embrace” app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
2. Open the app and press Research Study Login. The app will ask to access your camera. Press OK and a QR scanner will pop up. Use your camera to scan the QR code on this sheet. You can also manually input the following email and password.
3. To pair the Embrace with the app on your phone:
Step 1: If your Embrace smartwatch is not charged, place it in the charger and press Start pairing to pair the watch with your app. If your Embrace is already charged, no need to do this.
Step 2: Press Pair now. If pairing is not working, you may need to go to Bluetooth settings in your phone to un-connect or “Forget this device.” If you are switching phones, do this with both phones.
Step 3: If prompted, check for updates. After this is done, you can press Done.
4. The next section may prompt you to input your age, weight, height, and gender. By indicating this information, the app can provide you with more relevant and accurate stats for you.
5. Next, you’ll be presented with an overview of what the app does. Essentially you can see how much you’ve rested and moved for the entire day. Pressing each stats type allows you to view more advanced analysis. You can also go back to view previous dates. Note: Events will not be applicable for you in this study.
6. Here are a couple more things to know:
a. Battery: If you press the battery icon in the top right corner of the main page, you’ll be able to view how much battery your Embrace has.
b. Light Settings + Memory: Under the “My Embrace” page, you can toggle the light and vibration settings and check to see if your Embrace smartwatch memory is full. If it’s full, keep your watch and phone close to each other so the watch and app can sync.
c. Troubleshooting: Go here if you need to restart your Embrace or restore the watch-app pairing.
d. Other Settings: If you press the menu on the top left corner of the main page, you can edit your personal information, review what the light signals mean, read Help FAQs, and access the apps terms and conditions.
Everything is now set up!

You wear the Embrace just like you wear a watch. It has a wristband that can tighten and loosen depending on how you’d like to wear it. It should fit snugly.
If you tap on the circle, it will show the time! Make sure the heart sign is in the 3 o’clock position when you wear it or else the clock will be upside down.
Wear the Embrace on your dominant wrist as much as possible, including while you sleep. Take it off to charge it or if it’s going to be submerged in water, for example if you’re showering or going swimming. It’s okay if it gets a little wet accidentally.
Step 1: Press down on the end of the Embrace charger like in the picture.
Step 2: Slip the Embrace into its charger so that the heart icons align.
Step 3: Plug the cord into the Embrace charger and the wall charger. Plug the wall charger into an outlet.
Step 4: You can be sure the Embrace is charging when an orange light appears.
Make sure to charge the Embrace at least once a day for an hour.
Time: Tap once on the watch and you’ll see the clock. The blue light is the hour and the blinking white light is the minute.
Embrace disconnected: Your watch can’t connect to the Alert app on your phone anymore. When you get closer it will reconnect automatically.
Embrace connected: The watch successfully reconnected with the Alert app. It’s like a smile!
Connection Problem: Turn off Bluetooth for 15 seconds or swipe up on the app to force close and relaunch.
Low Battery: A blinking orange dot means the watch needs to be charged.
Embrace Charging: The Embrace takes around 2 hours to charge fully but if you charge it every day you only need to for 1 hour.
Fully Charged: Your Embrace is fully charged and ready to go!
Watch Memory is Full: Make sure the watch is connected with the Alert app and that your Bluetooth works.
