Creativity is one of the best gifts one can be blessed with, and I am fortunate to be one of those people. I take pride in my creativity, and it has served me well as a writer and an artist. Below are what I consider to be my best creative pieces, with a brief synopsis for each. You can also view each in its entirety via the Google Drive links below.
"Jesus Christ!" - set during the holiday season of 1998, this short satire, written for Fiction Workshop, centers around Dallas Santana, a father who makes it his goal to give his three children, Brooke, Nicholas, and Teddy, the best Christmas ever. The shopping spree turns eventful for Dallas, as he, among other things, sustains a concussion, sets a store display on fire, and has a run-in with another family. This short, but sweet narrative is what I consider to be my best creative piece! (WARNING: This short story contains adult humor and crude language. Read at your own discretion).
"Pandemic Blues" - a creative essay I wrote detailing my experiences finishing my freshman year at Marist at home during the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, reflecting on the time between being sent home in March 2020 and returning to campus the following August.
Poetry Collection - a collection of poems I wrote in Poetry Workshop that center around various themes, including authority, loneliness, and personal relationships (which contrasts heavily from the humorous, whimsical, and light-hearted nature that embody most of my other creative pieces). Additionally, I have included a few essay-style poems, one from Intro to Creative Writing about the color red, and a few poems from my final Literary Critical Theory project, centered around various villains in Popular Culture (consisting of The Sinister Six from Marvel's Spiderman franchise, Nintendo's Donkey Kong, Dr. Robotnik of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and the titular villain of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas) and their perspectives of being outcasts to society.
Video Game Blog Post - a sample blog post I wrote in Writing for Media. This piece is a video game review of Luigi's Mansion for the Nintendo GameCube. With this review, I aim to shed the game in a more positive light than it was originally perceived in, as I believe it is an underrated classic that stands alone from the rest of the Super Mario franchise.
