Inspiration
Yellena James's art projects shows her connection to nature through interesting patterns and flowing lines. Her use of unique designs, vibrant colors, and soft gradients makes a sense of harmony and movement. Each pieces feels alive and the fascinating design make people explore the depth. (290)
Planning and Practice
I made a detailed mind map to organize ideas and finalize the concept of my project. I planned the order and laters of the ref. images digitally. Using ibis Paint X, I practiced digital line pattern art techniques and realism (human) to enhance my skills before diving into the final piece. (291)
Experimentation
For experimentation, I worked with a collage of sakura flowers, playing around and adjusting with the quality of the original image (saturation, brightness, brilliance, highlight). This helped me explore different visual effects & determine what best fits my artwork, enhancing the natural aesthetic. (300)
Process
Began w bg line art using a pencil-like brush. Layered imgs (me&mom) 4 visual planning. Collaged sakuras, adjust size big2small 4 proper proportion. Colored in the natural elements (line art still visisble). Started w the base colors for me&mom drawings. + small detailed skin tones &white highlights (300)
Reflection and Revision
This project helped me enhance my skills in line art. While I think the work is good, there are rooms for improvement, like making the overall work look visually cleaner, adding more depth with color for human figures (me and mom), and making the hair look more natural for both figures. I learned a lot from Yellena James's artwork; it inspired me to make unique line patterns work. My biggest challenge was coloring the river and making sure it didn't look dull. I also struggled with the human figures, especially with shading and highlights, but adding white highlights helped me a lot. This work partially ties back to my previous work because it's about cherished memories, though the art style is different. I enjoyed doing the line art because it was fun to create the shapes and details. I didn't like coloring the human figures because it was hard to get the shading right (which I also have to improve on). Overall, I hope the viewers see how memories, like the ones I have with my mom, shape our relationship and connection.
