Welcome!
Hello everyone, welcome to my ePortfolio! The purpose of my ePortfolio is to showcase my accomplishments and growth, in the OTA program at SLCC as well as tell you about myself. My anticipated graduation year is MAY 2025.
My goal is to work in either pediatrics or Geriatrics. Using therapy to assist people do what they need and desire to do, occupational therapy, in what I believe is a holistic approach to helping people live their lives.OT focuses around occupations, using them as a means of therapy as well as a final goal.Occupational therapy to me is a therapy that is designed to enhance an individual's ability for overcoming obstacles or adjusting to life circumstances so they may live happy, independent lives.
About Me:
My name is Hamdi Yussuf and I am currently a student in the SLCC OTA Program Class of May 2025. I was born in Nairobi, Kenya. I speak 2 languages Somali and English. I come from a big family I have 7 siblings including me. Some of my hobbies are watching shows with my siblings, playing basketball, and reading books. I'm a funny person with a sense of humor, friendly person. I love going to weddings, and just having fun with family and friends. Since I was a young child, I have always wanted to help people. I find it amazing how OTAs can significantly impact someone's life by helping them reach their goals and acquire, regain, develop, and keep the skills necessary for everyday life and occupation. Being able to complete the program and fulfill my dream of becoming a COTA is one of my goals.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy is to be able to help people back to their regular activities. It is pretty much where people are in a state of rehab either mentally or physically to be able to return back to their normal daily activities. Occupational Therapists assist people to feel comfortable and get back to their regular everyday activities.
