COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will study professional behaviors appropriate for placement in fieldwork sites. Successful work skills, advocating for the Occupational Therapy (OT) profession, creative planning and client-centered practice in the community will be explored. This is a designated community-engaged learning course
Reflection:
My group and I taught high school students about occupational therapy (OT), including what it is, the typical salary for OTs in Utah, how to get into OT school, and the difference between being an occupational therapy assistant (OTA) and an occupational therapist (OT).
Through this experience, I understood how important it is to share knowledge about OT. I learned more about the field and how it can help people. This will be really helpful for my career as an OTA because I'll be able to explain what I do to others and inspire them to consider OT as a career too.
