All group members approach public total of 30 people to introduce and demonstrate the Verify Halal app. The target audiences are consumer and local business owner. We explain on how to use the app for halal status verification and the info included related to scanned product description.

The approached consumer and local business owners are required to fill the google form to measure their understanding about the app and to observe the effectiveness the demonstration session.
Result of Form
Most of the respondents finds the app very helpful to verify the halal status of food products. The app also provides other information, such as which halal certification bodies that is verified by JAKIM that grant the halal status of the food products, and the list of ingredients of the food product.
From the google form, we notice that most people always verify the halal status of the food product when buying, followed by 9 people do verify the halal status sometimes. This indicates that the halal awareness among the consumer and local business owner is high and is something that is frequently emphasized when choosing food product.
There are several concerns pointed out by the respondents:
The authenticity of the halal logo, and the unrecognized halal logo.
Not all food products and premises are listed in the app.
Difficulties to understand specific requirements for halal determination for non-Muslim.
List of ingredients not using common name, makes it hard for consumer to understand what's inside the food product.
Most of the answers are regarding:
Continuously updating database including international products.
Adding halal food delivery service feature.
Real-time reporting feature regarding non-compliance to halal policy.
Add food product searching method, like by voice search.
List of stores that sell the food product.
AI-powered image recognition, such as recognition by packaging design, which is useful when the barcode is damage.
Price index of the products in market, able to directly buy the products from the app, and have special discounts and vouchers when buying from the app.
Reviews and feedback about the products so other consumer acknowledge about the latest info about the product.
FAQ and live chats with JAKIM officer about any enquiries.
Most respondents will very likely use the app and recommend it to others. This shows that the app is very useful and has a high potential to be expand to broader scope and target audience.
