Humanity Edge Portal (HEP) is a community services society engaged in societal work across the Narowal District, Pakistan. The society has executed over 200 blood donations through community help and spearheaded various city-wide plantation and cleanliness drives.
I was responsible for the planning and execution of a food drive during the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, where my organization, HEP, helped distribute food items to over 400 families in the district. Since then, we have continued to serve the community by delivering food bags to over 300 more families in times of need. A lack of resources did not deter us as we used the living rooms of our team members for packaging and motorbikes for transporting them to the remotest parts of the city.
Driven by a deep commitment to care for the children at the Narowal Child Home, my team and I organized biweekly food and game sessions to bring joy, companionship, and a sense of belonging to those growing up without parental support. To create a lasting impact, I secured a $1,000 donation grant from the International Research and Exchange Board (IREX) USA to design and equip a dedicated game and study room within the home, a vibrant space filled with books, paints, and educational activities, giving these children the tools and environment every child deserves. As part of our continued effort, we now support a University of Narowal student through the HEP Scholarship Program. In return, he volunteers as a tutor for the children, ensuring they not only feel cared for but are empowered to learn, grow, and dream.
To promote civic responsibility and environmental awareness, I spearheaded a city-wide cleanliness drive in Narowal, rallying students from across the city to take part in hands-on efforts to keep their surroundings clean. By placing youth at the heart of the campaign, we aimed to instill a lasting commitment to public hygiene and community care. The initiative gained significant traction online, with our campaign videos reaching over 100,000 views on social media, amplifying our message and inspiring broader public engagement in the movement for a cleaner, more conscious Narowal.
Over the course of two years, we organized multiple plantation drives across the city of Narowal, successfully planting over 1,000 trees and contributing to a greener, healthier environment. I made it a priority to involve children and students in each campaign, turning every drive into a hands-on learning experience. By actively engaging the younger generation, we fostered a sense of environmental responsibility and helped cultivate a lasting awareness of the importance of caring for our planet.
Furthermore, I also planned and executed a donation drive by selling Independence Day celebration items in August 2022, with the proceeds being used to support the HEP Scholarship Program, which aims to put out-of-school children back on the education track in Narowal.
