Our Volunteer Educators

Manju Jha was born in India and migrated to Australia in 1991. Having spent her formative years in India, she was exposed to the culture of contributing to the underprivileged and marginalised sections of community through the nuns at her school. A visit to the slums was enabled each week for students, who took social service as a co-curricular activity. Working alongside the less privileged, inculcated in her a sense of empathy, compassion and service and also helped her in gaining a better understanding of issues related to poverty, and lack of education and literacy.

Manju currently lives in Sydney where she works as a public servant with an Australian Federal Government agency. In her spare time, she reads extensively and dabbles in painting in an attempt to create fusions between Indian and Australian forms of art. More importantly, she has continued to contribute to the lives of the less privileged by teaching children from refugee backgrounds at an Australian Integrated Learning Program as well as an initiative in India through the Gyan Shakti Trust.

Jayita Sinha was born in India, but has spent most of her adult life in Europe and currently lives in Belgium. She studied Chemical Engineering and have a Master’s Degree in Petroleum & Gas Refining. She works as IT Director BENELUX (Belgium/Luxembourg/Netherlands) for L’Oreal. Her greatest passion in life is to travel and not just as a tourist. She loves to discover new places, different people & cultures, it really excites me. She loves to hike and mountains, the Himalayas enchant her. In October 2017 she hiked to Everest Base Camp and it was the most exciting experience of her life and I would love to do it again. She is looking forward to days when things will get back to some normalcy and they can travel again and she can get to see my Mum in Delhi & her Daughter in Manchester who also happens to be her best friend.

Bharati Jha : I was born in India and moved to the USA in 1995. I studied Chemical Engineering in India and did a masters in Computer Science in America. I enjoy computer programming in different languages. I love outdoor activities and Bollywood dancing in order to keep fit and enhance my cognitive sharpness. While working in different industries as a Software Engineer, I also got a chance to contribute to the community by teaching elementary school kids, mentoring students, working on pro-bono projects, preparing food for the homeless, etc. Nothing is more fulfilling than seeing how a small contribution of our time and knowledge can help many people improve their lives. I would like to continue this journey by serving the community in any possible way for the betterment of society.

Sneha Jha : I was born in India, moved abroad in 2012 and have stayed in three different countries (South Korea, Belgium & presently living in Netherlands). I have studied engineering in Electronics & Instrumentation. I am currently working as IT Business Intelligence Manager for L’Oréal. Being a Convent school alumnus, I have always been inculcated and instilled with the serving and sharing attitude. I enjoy teaching and coaching the young minds so that I can help them build their dreams in any possible way. In this digital era, I have been very enticed to spread free education with the help of digital tools.

During my leisure, I love dancing especially contemporary forms. I also love to travel and explore (of course in the corona free world). As it is well said by Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world” and when technology given in the hands of the of teachers is absolutely transformational.

Anju Jha I was born in India and moved to Sydney, Australia in 2000. I used to work as a freelance journalist in India. Upon arriving in Sydney, I completed my Masters in Computer Science and Engineering from University of New South Wales. After a brief stint at Accenture Australia as an Analyst, I worked for Department of Home Affairs as a public servant. Currently I am working for Services Australia in their Legal Division.

I love writing poetry and reading books when I have free time. I have recently published my debut Poetry book ‘Specks of Epiphanies’. I was always passionate about making a difference to the lives of less-privileged children. I have received an opportunity to teach and mentor children through the Gyan Shakti Trust Initiative. I am proud to be making this small contribution to the lives of children.
