By 2024, GBHWC’s ability to address the seven core elements of suicide-safer care in its approach to behavioral health services, based on the Zero-Suicide Framework (ZSF), will reach at least a target rating of “4 = Near Comprehensive Practices are in Place.”
This benchmark was completed in Year 4. There are no additional updates in Year 5.
By 2024, GBHWC will have tracked a 4-year implementation record of its Zero Suicide Plan.
Although this benchmark was met in Year 4, the GBHWC Zero Suicide Implementation Team continued to make progress during Year 5 to develop the suicide care pathway for GBHWC consumers with the Zero Suicide consultant.
In addition, Marie A. Perez, a University of Washington graduate student in Public Health, completed her capstone project titled: “Strengthening Protective Training Policies for Guam’s Frontline, Mental Health Workers.” The project was a qualitative study of the existing suicide prevention and intervention program services with GBHWC. Ms. Perez presented her work to the Zero Suicide Implementation Team and provided recommendations for the team
By 2024, GBHWC, as a member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) network, will operate a local suicide prevention lifeline that will receive at least 70% of NSPL calls from the island.
During Year 5, 988 received a total of 5,600 calls and answered a total of 5,332 calls. This is an average answer rate of 95%.
GFOL utilized social media campaigns and static ads to promote the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The social campaigns included platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube had a total reach of 386,331 people. The static and radio ads in local media and venues had a total reach of 66,960 viewers.
