James and I agreed that the arm should have some musicality. Just a nice aesthetic isn't enough.
We both agreed that typical, physical musical instruments are not easy to design with our current constraints
James came up with the idea to have the arm be like a theremin, changing frequency as it gets closer/farther to a point (the body?) and amplitude based of the height of the foot. Ryan said that this could be done via software.
Researched what theremin players do/ hand positions etc
Theremin players' hands are rather bland and don't convery much emotion by themselves
for inspiration, looked at mythical one eyed creatures.
going off totem-like design since I can incorporate elements of the theremin player hand but totems are naturally a similar shape to the one we are working with and are expressive by nature.
Starting the simple base design in solid works for the more simple geometric designs before importing and using fusion 360 for the sculpt feature to introduce more organic curves and elements.
Rough sketches/CAD of idea. Will be refined.
Final** design.
has an organic shape to it so that it could evoke emotion while simulating a theremin being played
has an eye for future camera integration
lacks camera integration due to
my lack of knowledge of fusion 360
fusion 360's inability to accurately convert between sculpting and modeling
Fusion 360 especially sculpt feature lacks numerical values for many sketches, features and sculpting abilities
