As the Church, we should be the bridge-builder so we can share Discipleship Lessons. Through the truthfulness of the Word of God, we may be able to unlock the door for the actual relationships to be faked upon the shared foundations. And also we should think of ways about how we may be able to invite this discussion in the place of certain area where there is fake news.
1. Create Space for the Generational Teaching – What will the church do to assist a generation will teach one more generation? Mentorship and discipleship programs are the most common programs in the church, however, you should be creative! There are churches that have created stories and videos from the old generation regarding tough times and also how God had got them by that had been a vast encouragement to the young generation. There are some other churches that allow the young adults and the youth to host the technology party wherein they are helping the old ones to experience new technology. Let us use our own imagination to discover these spaces.
2. Create Space for the Healthy Discussion – There had been difficult themes that our world is facing today. All generations are in need of a safe place in asking hard questions. A church must be that space, however, too often we deter questions, inquiries, force, and doubts especially the young people to locate answers elsewhere. The Churches that encourages healthy conversation and the Scripture’s reading in community make a culture that connects instead of dividing. As one of the pastoral heroes had said, “We are talking more about the clothes that divide us, and not lesser.”Have the hard conversation because that will indicate deepening the relationship.
3. Create Space for the Mutual Learning – If the generations never had the chance to mutually discover from and then teach one another, how we can expect them to listen to each other? Church is an ideal place to make space for the generations to come and together around the common mission and the vision and then listen to each other as they discover together.
At times it has been noticed that the churches adores to takes the back seat with these types of problems and say, “That is not really the religious or the spiritual thing. The voice and influence can be reserved for some other concerns.” However, it can be beg to differ. All of life, as a believer, it is spiritual. It is said that we had been lift to new being in Christ and that means that everything we do, together with posting over the social media, must be completed in that light.
The Churches have an exclusive chance to go in this space about a mutual belief with Jesus and offer the space for humble growth and mutual edification to take place. Rather than be shy away, we must “talk more”. Equip parents for the conversations over the dinner table. Promote connection across generation. Create the space. It’s all part of the calling in “making disciples.”
