Digital discipleship is a modern method of teaching in which the church and other Christians use digital resources such as blogs, articles, videos, and social media to disciple Christians and non-Christians equally.
Many subjects can be clarified through digital discipleship, and it can reach more individuals in less time than ever before in human history. Video, blogging, social networking, photographs, and music, in practically any form, are now simpler to share than ever before, and the Lord may work in anyone's heart to draw them closer to Him.
Here's how you may help others disciple:
Using One-on-One Relationships
In its most effective form, the greatest way to use digital tools to disciple people around you is through direct messaging. Direct texting someone to talk about Christ, encourage them in their faith, or educate them more about who Jesus is, I really believe, will be more effective and personal than any other resource. This is appropriate for those you know in person as well as those you just know online.
Blogging is a great way to create content.
Even if you are only one person, blogging is a fantastic method to reach out to more people. I use the term "blogging" loosely because there are many various methods to do it. Posting about personal experiences and ideas about God might help those who are in need of encouragement or who are in similar situations to you. Remember that you're using social media to reach out to Christians and non-Christians alike, and that God deserves all of the praise. Also, if individuals want to talk about Jesus with you personally, keep your private message accessible.
Videos
Vlogging on YouTube is another excellent approach to reach out to people for Christ. It has a similar impact to blogging, but it may reach a new audience. If you're more of a visual storyteller, you might make narrative films that demonstrate Jesus' love for others, share personal tales, or do a variety of other things. For individuals who don't have the patience to read, but still want to learn, videos are an excellent resource.
Podcasting
Podcasts are popular among individuals who listen to them while working, driving, or unwinding in the evening. This is a useful tool for individuals who still want to learn but can't sit down to watch a video or read a blog article. If you're timid in front of the camera, but like chatting, consider what you might teach in an audio format.
Digital discipleship isn't perfect, and it never will be. We must approach the use of digital resources with prudence and caution. Here are a few things to keep an eye out for.
It's a Real Thing: Digital Isolation
There has been a slew of research on digital isolation, notably on social media. When employing these resources to advance the Kingdom, Christians must exercise prudence. Technology, particularly the internet, may be immensely addicting, leading to a lack of focus on Christ.
Live streaming: Is it Time to Say Goodbye to the Local Church?
To be healthy, everyone needs to be a part of a community. This is something that churches should be aware of. In this instance, I would advise churches not to live broadcast their weekly sermons.
