Hoax

Hoax is a widely publicized falsehood created to deceive its audience with false and often astonishing information, with the either malicious or humorous intent of causing shock and interest in as many people as possible.

Examples of hoaxes

Bomb threats: A hoax call claiming there is a bomb somewhere when there is not.
Fake news:Fabricated news stories that are shared to trick people into believing something that is not true.
Deep fakes: Videos where people's faces are edited to make it look like they said or did something they didn't.
