Fear Mongering

Fear mongering or Scaremongering- It is the dissemination of frightening and exaggerated rumors of an imminent danger or the tactic of purposely and needlessly aiming to instill fear in the public.

EXAMPLES OF FEAR MONGERING:

Mass media relying on scary stories and bad news
Political campaign advertisements
Psychological warfare
Putting words into the mouth of the opponent
Manufacturing vulnerabilities
Over-generalizing
Wrongfully attributing things to others
Using music and imagery to promote fear
Rejecting concern about climate change as fearmongering
Baseless fearmongering about chemicals in consumer products
Lashing out at "fearmongering" by analysts and investors
