Helena joined the lab in October 2022
Helena completed her degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry at the University of Oxford. After graduating, she continued her Master’s project at the Dunn School in the lab of Professor Shona Murphy, studying the role of CDK12 in transcription elongation. She became interested in R-loops through a subsequent Research Assistant position supervised by Professor Nicholas Proudfoot. In October 2022, she started her DPhil in the Gromak group where she aims to further uncover the role of R-loops in trinucleotide repeat disorders, focusing on Friedreich’s ataxia.
