Leo lived in a world going through an early Industrial Revolution era, where he became fascinated with steam technology. He began to advance the technology, and soon his knack for the new machinery got him noticed by other factories. Promising him a lucrative life where he could do all he wanted. 

After accepting, he soon found himself forced to work three times the workload of any other worker, and for the same pay. Greedy people took advantage of his innocence, with Leo not knowing their ploy. Through his early teens, he only knew work, with only spare time for personal life. With stress mounting, Leo looked for an outlet, and found it in causing mischief. 

Often times, when they thought he was working, Leo would actually be rigging a machine to do something crazy. This went on for a long time, and Leo found immense joy and satisfaction in his work. However, the factories got fed up. Thinking that he had become incompetent, they worried that they would start losing man power and money fast if they kept Leo around. But they didn't want to risk him potantially using his prowess elsewhere. 

On his way home, Leo was jumped by 3 men, the same men who worked with him in the factory. They beat him with wrenches and pipes, leaving him with a bruised body and mangled left arm. As Leo lay there, he called out for help. Night turned to morning, to afternoon, back to sunset. The entire time his pleas were ignored by the humans walking past. Occasionally, one would even laugh, spit, or kick at him. He lay there for 3 more days and 3 more nights, hope starting to dwindle. Until someone finally stopped.

 A person with a short stature, and a gruff voice. A Dwarf. His name was Denken. As a dwarf, he too knew of the pain caused by humans and elves. He saw Leos state and took pity, taking him into his own abode. He fed him and patched what he could, but he couldn't fix Leo's arm. Leo lived with Denken for the next 3 years, learning dwarven techniques for technology. 

After a while, Leo was able to make a false arm powered by dwarven technology. Denken helped him remove his old arm, and put the new one on. Things were finally looking up for Leo. He had a master, a father figure. He learned new tech, he even had his arm back! But then, a new King came into power. This king tossed out all of the protections for other races, declaring humans the supreme race. In an instant, human soldiers began arresting and executing creatures of other races within the country. As they were about to flee, Denkens abode came under siege. 

To save Leo, Denken sent him down a minecart rail, giving him a letter as he left. Leo still doesn't know the fate of his mentor, as he travels the world looking for a way to change things, and for a way to take down the human empire.
