Repairs & Maintenance
Important Update: Lost Chromebook chargers CANNOT be charged to a student's account. They will need to pay the $37 replacement fee up front to receive a new charger.
How to Report Repair and Maintenance Requests
Students are responsible for the general care of the Chromebook issued to them by the District. Chromebooks that are broken or fail to work properly must be taken to the Media Center during Chromebook Repair hours. Students will fill out a Repair and Maintenance Request Form. At that time, it will be determined whether this is a covered repair. If the repair is NOT covered, the student will be notified as to what steps to take to obtain repairs for their Chromebook.
***Students SHOULD NEVER obtain third party repairs on their Chromebook without first seeing Mrs. Barton and receiving the explicit consent of Greenville High School.***
Chromebook Repair Hours:
8:30-8:45 & During Lunch
**Students should not be coming to the Media Center during class for repairs**
Chromebook Troubleshooting Guide
The Chromebook Troubleshooting Guide might be a GREAT place to start before consulting with Mrs. Barton about a Chromebook issue. A variety of common problems and solutions are included in the guide that may help you solve your own problem. Check it out!

What is NOT Covered as Accidental Damage
The following are examples of incidents not covered by Accidental Damage Protection. Should the following occur, the repair or replacement cost will be the responsibility of the student.
* Intentional damage resulting from abuse or vandalism.
* Lost, missing, or theft of the student's Chromebook.
In the event that the Chromebook assigned to a student should develop a technical problem or become damaged, the issue should be reported to Mrs. Barton immediately.
Chromebook Replacements
For minor repairs or first incident of accidental damage occurrence
Once a student fills out the Repair and Maintenance Request form, a temporary replacement Chromebook will be checked out to that student in the Media Center (if one is available). The student will be subject to the same liabilities with regards to repairs as they are to their original Chromebook.
For uncovered repairs:
Students who incur more than one cracked screen or any additional damages per school year will be required to pay for the repair costs - including full replacement costs of the Chromebook if applicable.
Students will not be issued any replacement until the repair costs have been paid in full.
Any replacement Chromebook is also subject to the same liabilities.
GCSD Chromebook Repair Warranty
The Dell Chromebooks that have been purchased by Greenville County School District are covered by a 3-year parts and labor warranty. This warranty covers the machines for hardware failures, such as:
* Chromebook will not charge or will not turn on.
* Chromebook's keyboard or touchpad is no longer working.
Students will also receive coverage for ONE incident of accidental damage per year. Examples include the following:
* Liquid spilled on or in the Chromebook.
* Drops, falls and other collisions.
* Damaged or broken LCD screen due to a drop.
**Please note, again, that students will only receive ONE COVERED REPAIR per academic year**
