CEMETERY PAGE
This is the page for information regarding the cemeteries within the Town and Village of Greene. As the Co-Chair for the Cemetery Advisory Committee for the town and village, I am a central Point of Contact (POC) for any cemetery-related matters pertaining to abandoned cemeteries (public and private) within the municipality. This page will provide some information and documents to assist with Greene cemetery matters.
There are certain cemeteries which have their own "Association," and are typically "active" cemeteries, which means they are actively accepting interments. This office can assist with information relating to these cemeteries and can certainly provide historical and research information for these cemeteries, but legal or technical matters should be directed to the Sextons, Cemetery Managers, or Associations representing these cemeteries. These "active" cemeteries are:
Sylvan Lawn Cemetery
North Canal Street Cemetery / Hornby Cemetery
Lower Genegantslet Cemetery
Oak Grove Cemetery
Brisben Baptist Church Cemetery (under association)

If inquiring about plot purchases, plot ownership/deeds, or other legal/technical matters relating to the cemeteries listed above, please reach out to the respective cemetery association.
MAP OF CEMETERIES IN GREENE
To the right is a map indicating the locations of all of the cemeteries within the Town and Village of Greene. If you click on the blue pins, it will provide you the GPS coordinates and geographical location of each cemetery. In the description, it will indicate if the cemetery is on private property or if the cemetery is "exempt," which means that the cemetery is active and/or has an Association managing it.
If you notice there is a cemetery missing (i.e. family plot, private cemetery), please send an email to this office and indicate the cemetery that is missing, so it may be added to this map. This is the current and most up-to-date map of the cemeteries in the Town and Village of Greene.

Are you looking for a specific name in a cemetery? You've come to the right place. Below is a list of cemetery rosters. Please keep in mind that, while these lists were compiled with the most accurate information possible, there may still be names missing or slightly incorrect information, as records become misaligned and gravestones become worn and inscriptions disappear over time.
Names highlighted in yellow indicate that they are a United States Military veteran. For further military information, including campaign(s), please send me an email. If you have any recommendations or corrections, please send an email to: bbernardi@nygreene.com - Please note that Oak Grove Cemetery and Sylvan Lawn Cemetery may not be fully up-to-date, as I am awaiting updated records.
The Cemetery Advisory Committee kindly asks that if a cemetery is on private property, or you are unsure if it is safe to access, please send an email to this office to seek further information. Please be respectful to your fellow "Greenites" and DO NOT enter private property without consent of the property owner or checking with the Cemetery Advisory Committee first.
