IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING TRANSLATIONS/INTERPETATIONS

Greek Consulates in USA in do not offer official translation/ interpretation services. If you need translation or interpretation for your consular needs, please consider the following options:

Requests submitted by courier
Citizens who are unable to come to the Translation Service can send their documents for translation via a private courier company of their choice, paying the relevant fees and instructing the courier company to submit the documents to a cashier, pay the translation fees, and take the receipt in order to pick up the translated documents on a designated date. ATTENTION: Those transacting with the Translation Service should present a photo identity card and in case of a foreign national, citizen a third to the EC country a proof of their legal residency in Greece. (Law 3386/2005 article 84 paragraph 1).Those transacting on behalf of a third party, are asked to provide relevant legal authorization when submitting and picking up documents.

For translation or/and interpretation
You may contract directly with professional translators/interpreters of your choice. Greek Consulates in USA are only entitled to legalize the signature of the translator/interpreter.

For interpretation purposes in legal documents (eg.power of attorney), you may contract with professionals or persons of your trust that do not appear on the above non-compulsory list.
Please note that the Greek Consulates are not in a position to vouch for the quality of services rendered by the listed professionals or the fees they charge. However, certified interpreters within American Authorities (test passed by federal or state Courts or/and US State Department) are included.

How to obtain an official translation:
1. Locate a certified translator:
You can find a list of certified translators through the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs or through online portals like Gov.gr.
Provide the translator with a copy of the document to be translated.
3. Confirm the translation details:
Verify the spelling of names and other details with the translator to avoid errors in the translated document.
4. Receive the certified translation:
The translator will provide you with the translated document, including the certificate of accuracy.
