Hello all,
Your kids made me very proud last week. I am impressed and they are my joy.
They had practiced their letters, they could sound them all out. They had practiced with their index cards and not even the youngest and most shy had difficulty sounding out syllables. They knew their alphabet song.
Even the most shy and youngest person in the class was able to do well in verbalizing sentences, words, syllables, letters.
They amazed and delighted me.
Your kids are actually learning faster than I could imagine.
By repetition they will learn words and phrases securely. Repetition this week will also be necessary to accommodate those who have missed class due to illness or travel.
Most had brought their index cards with them. They all had a notebook. Please note, the children need to bring a composition style notebook with them in class, or one will be given to them there so they can take notes. Big or small spiral notebooks are not appropriate. We will be meeting in the sitting room next to the library as it is easier to share books and songs and notes on the TV.
Please, note: after today I will avoid sending weekly emails; the link to homework will be posted on the website. Please, familiarize yourself with the resources there.

It is crucial you check the website every Friday afternoon for communications.
I am available on Saturdays to work with individual children as long as you make (and keep) appointments.
So, last week we proceeded into sounding out small words and because the class is also focused on acquiring speaking facility, we learned small sentences.
Yes, I made them take notes as I will keep on doing and they are supposed to copy their notes cleanly at home.
Please, obtain a second, non-spiral, regular composition notebook where the children can copy their class notes cleanly at home and they bring it to class to show me their progress in handwriting. That will be standard homework every week until further notice.
Do not worry! They are not being asked to keep college level notes nor should the amount of work be overwhelming but it will help them improve their writing skills and memorize.
Only fully registered students will have access to the material.
I am looking forward to continuing with your children in their learning journey.
Best regards,
Maria
WHILE DRIVING, SITTING, LOUNGING
Please, play a playlist of songs from Youtube from the list below while driving the children to activities, or on TV while they are playing at home so they become accustomed to the sounds of the language. You will be surprised at how much they may pick out from songs.
