Followed cairns and stayed above the tree line. Ate breakfast and aired everything out on an island passage between two tarns. Heard a human voice and a French woman came through the trees into our sprawl. We talked to her about the GDR, which she had done 15 years ago but never documented. We hiked down into the trees, found a trail, and reached a milky blue lake. Then we followed a well established trail all the way to our campground for the night. We were fast on a trail! We were also able to talk about things other than navigating. Slept on a wooden plank thing.
The first other human voice since resupply at Warner Lake was female with a french accent. Juliette was enjoying the wilderness alone and revisiting a place she had been with her partner 15 years ago! She said they started Hiking from a town well East of Jarvis Lake and resupplied out of Monkman Lake, then continued on Northward another two months!! We'll never know the details. She said she writes volumes of her hikes, but will never publish--they're for her alone and..."why let others know about this? It'll spoil the untamed." For that I feel guilty publishing this, yet obligated to those who helped us fulfill a dream.
