Solar Collector

We set up an energy balance across the glass and the absorber plate which allowed us to solve for the flux entering the plate per unit time. Using psychrometric charts we find the change in humidity ratio to be 6 grams of water per kilogram of dry air, and the change in enthalpy to be 26 kilojoules per kilogram of dry air. 65 kilograms of water needs to be removed from 8 bushels of corn using 10830 kilograms of dry air. Based on our findings, our absorber would need to be 5 meters squared to obtain a drying time of approximately one day.

Based on our findings, an active component was added to our final design to cut down on the size and cost of the solar collector.
