Importance of Drying Grain

Illness and food scarcity due to improper drying and storage of grains is a major problem facing developing nations such as Nigeria. Our design is an indirect solar energy dryer that utilizes both natural and forced convection to dry grains in an environment free of debris and protected from animals. When scrap materials are used, this design is an affordable solution to reduce grain losses and contamination as compared to roadside drying.
