Our Mission
Act with grace. Simplify faith.
ACT WITH GRACE.
Active grace put in motion contrasts with inaction, stagnation and indifference. A good way to represent Jesus and what He is really like to those around us is by enjoying and sharing His undeserved favor and unconditional love. He entered the world to bring His grace and truth. God's grace is what enables the last to be first, the poor to be rich, the weak to be strong, and the least to be the greatest. Grace is the key to experiencing the radical transformation of the upside-down kingdom of God.
SIMPLIFY FAITH.
Religion has complicated things. Genuine Christianity was never meant to be religious. Religion often interferes with our ability to know and trust Jesus. It distorts everything. When we can sidestep the religious structures, we can encounter Christ free from the hierarchy, dogma and rules made up by men over time.
A simple calculation is where religion decreases, access to Jesus increases. Faith becomes the business of ordinary people rather than ordained professionals. Simplifying faith brings purpose and meaning to our real lives so we can discover God has been authentically involved in our homes, work and play all along.
We fulfill this mission by...
PRAYING - Following Jesus' example to care about what He cares about
GOING - Doing good anywhere we find ourselves
BAPTIZING - Uniting with Jesus in new life
TEACHING - Obeying Jesus' command to love
An added benefit of remaining focused on this mission is how it can UNITE people around the values we are FOR. It is a nice alternative to religious battles that seem to divide people based on who is against what. If you want to know what we are for and against, here you go.
"Isn't it alarming, then, to think that we're often known for what we are against, rather than by what we are for - the Good News of a love so 'wide and long and high and deep' that it encompasses more than any of us could ever imagine."
--Rick Warren, Better Together: 40 Days of Community
