The grade book has several different view options, depending on what you are doing there. The Grader Report is the typical "teacher view". The User Report is what the student sees. And Gradebook Setup is where you adjust weights, order, etc.

When we add items to our course, if they will be collecting a grade, they will automatically be added into the gradebook (YAY!) However... as we add items, they often will just appear at the bottom or end of that gradebook (BOO!) If you go into Gradebook Setup, it's super easy to move things around, though, using the move handles in front of each item.
