What I did: Built and shipped the game completely from scratch. Created some of the assets including some sound effects, UI, some models, some textures, some shaders, and imported the rest from the unity asset store and opengamearts, designed levels, progressions, and tuned major systems like game mechanics and monetization, hardware optimizations.
SPEEDSTER 3D - PORTFOLIO
This game was designed by me with the Unity Engine. This project idea and its first prototype began work on the first week of February 2022 and was completed on later on the same month. And was released on the app stores.
CHALLENGES FACED
Challenge: Implementing smooth and dynamic movement mechanics for the speedster character.
Solution: Utilize Unity's physics system to create a smooth and responsive movement system. Applied forces and adjusted velocities based on player inputs to achieve the desired speed and movement. Considered implementing rolling, dodging, ragdoll and other dynamic movement mechanics to enhance gameplay.
Challenge: Designing and implementing challenging enemy encounters and projectile dodging mechanics.
Solution: Create enemy AI routines that shoot projectiles at the player. Implement a system for the player to dodge or avoid these projectiles, such as by implementing dash or roll mechanics. Test and balance enemy behavior and projectile speed to ensure a challenging but fair gameplay experience.
The key to this game is to think fast and decide upon the direction to guide your character into.
During this project, I developed the following skills:
Designing and implementing UI for a top down touch and slide mechanics of a one handed hyper casual game.
Ragdoll physics simulations upon animation key frame and NPC damage events.
F2P monetizations with mediation ad network and in-app purchases.
Time management skills shown during the time of creating prototypes to completing the game.
