What I did: Built and shipped the game completely from scratch. Created some of the assets including some sound effects, UI, some models, some textures, some shaders, and imported the rest from the unity asset store and opengamearts, designed levels, progressions, and tuned major systems like game mechanics and monetization, hardware optimizations.
MISSILE BALLOON - PORTFOLIO
This game was designed by me with the Unity Engine. This project idea and its first prototype began work on the first week of 21 March 2022 and was completed 9 days later on 30 March 2022. And was released on the app stores upon completion.
A simple 3D beat the score game designed to be a part of a Sunset Themed game jam tournament for hyper casual mobile games.
CHALLENGES FACED
Challenge: Implementing accurate and responsive controls for guiding the homing missile.
Solution: Used touch controls to allow players to guide the missile accurately. Implement smooth interpolation and damping to provide responsive and fluid movement. Test the controls extensively to ensure they feel intuitive and enjoyable.
Challenge: Designing varied and interesting obstacles or challenges for the missile to navigate.
Solution: Create a variety of obstacles such as moving platforms, rotating blades, or tight gaps that the player must navigate the missile through. Experiment with different level designs and mechanics to provide engaging and challenging gameplay. Gradually increase the difficulty as the player progresses.
During this project, I developed/enhanced the following skills:
Intuitive UI design skills.
Physics based movements.
Game optimizations by reducing vertex counts on 3D meshes, recycling objects, dynamic batching and removing hidden meshes from the environment.
Procedurally generated environment.
F2P monetization with in-game ads and in-app purchases
