Assign Seat

All traveling passengers with an assigned pickup are eligible for a seat assignment. The assign seat page shows the available vehicle's seating layout along the left side of the page. The right side of the page shows a list of passengers grouped by *party name. Each passenger shares a color code with all other passengers traveling in a party. Passengers can be dragged individually or in bulk from the passenger list and dropped on a seat. Seats will be assigned from left to right starting at the drop point and continuing by row until all seats are assigned. An animated spinner will show for passengers with a pending assignment. To make an assignment permanent use the save menu (floppy disk icon). Any pending assignment will become assigned upon a successful save.

Depending on where you navigate from, the list of passengers will contain a single passenger, all passengers in a reservation, or all passengers traveling on a tour. Passengers can be assigned to seats in bulk when navigating from a tour or reservation page.

Filter

Passengers can be filtered by party using the "Filter by party..." drop down list. All passengers that do not belong to a selected party will be hidden from the passenger list. Select the "Filter by party..." item from the list to reset the list and show all passengers. A single party is shown when navigating from a passenger page.

Drag and Drop

Passengers can be simply dragged from the passenger list and dropped onto a seat in drag mode. Multiple passengers can be dragged and dropped using the following instructions:

  1. Enter "Select" mode by toggling the "Drag/Select" button. The button should read "Select"when in select mode.
  2. Select the passenger from the list using the checkbox to the left of the passenger name.
  3. Enter "Drag" mode by toggling the "Drag/Select" button. The button should read "Drag"when in drag mode. The drag icon changes from a single person icon to a multi person icon when multiple passengers are selected.
  4. Drag any passenger icon and drop it onto a seat.

Seats will be assigned from left to right starting at the drop point and continuing by row until all seats are assigned. All selected passengers will be added to seats in a pending state.

Multiple Vehicles

Vehicles are displayed one at a time. A drop down list of vehicles is shown at the top of the page above the vehicle seating layout. Vehicles can be switch by selecting a vehicle from the drop down list. Passengers can be dragged and dropped onto any seating layout of a selected vehicle. Seats are in a pending state on all vehicles from the list until saved.

Clear and Refresh

Assigned and pending passengers can be cleared from a seat using the following instructions:

  1. Select the "Clear Assigned" or "Clear Pending" menu (check mark in a circle icon).
  2. Select any passenger using the checkbox shown to the left of the customer name.
  3. Select the "Done" menu (trash can icon).
  4. Confirm the action when prompted.

All selected passengers will be cleared from a seat (and assigned vehicle ) and placed back in the passenger list. Use the "Refresh" menu (arrows forming a circle icon) to pull in any changes made by other users while on the assign seat page.

Seats

Each seat has a number based on the layout of the vehicle. Seats are simulated using visual cues determined by a user's preference. Border style, border color, seat icon, and text size are controlled using the "Icon" menu (picture icon) and "Border" menu (square with rounded edges icon). Seats in the vehicle layout are updated in real time when changing visual attributes.

Rows, Columns, and Aisle

Vehicle layout is based on rows and columns. Each row is marked with a row number shown on the left most side of the vehicle. Each cell of the vehicle grid is a seat or an aisle. The word "aisle" is used for any cell that is not a seat. Aisle are hidden by default. Toggle aisle visibility using the "Icon" or "Border" menu items.

Lock Columns

A column can be locked to prevent the assignment of seats. Use the "Lock Column" menu (lock icon) to expose the column locks in each column of the vehicle seating layout. No seat assignments can be made to any seat in a column that is locked. A locked column does not impact other users of the application and is only active during a single seating session. Locking columns can help reduce the time it takes to seat multiple passengers in a single drop action on unlocked columns.

Pickup Groups and Vehicles

The vehicles a passenger can be assigned to are controlled by pickups groups. A passenger belongs to pickup group(s) based on their assigned pickup. The passenger list automatically hides passenger assigned to pickups that are not serviced by the selected vehicle. See the "Vehicle Component" and "Pickup Component" topic for more information.

Indicators

The group column shown in the passenger list indicates the pickup group(s) a passenger belongs to. For example, the value G:1, 2 indicates a passenger can be seated (assigned) on vehicles that service pickup groups 1 and 2.

The title of each vehicle starts with the pickup group(s) a vehicle uses. For example, the value G:1, 2 (in the vehicle title) indicates pickup groups 1 and 2.

The list of tour *party names also shows the current state of the pickup assignments for a party. For example, 6 (A:4 - P:0) indicates 4 passenger in the party are assigned to the pickup and 2 passengers are not assigned or pending.

The letter indicators are:

  • G - Group
  • A- Assigned
  • P - Pending
*Party name is the customer name used to make a reservation.
