AC Drain Line Maintenance (Every 2 Months)
To keep the air conditioning working properly, the drain line must be cleaned regularly to prevent algae buildup and clogging.
⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY RULE
Always turn OFF both thermostats before starting. Do NOT perform this while the AC is running.
What you need:
1 cup of white vinegar
Steps:
Turn both thermostats to OFF
Locate the AC drain pipe cap (it has a small wire connected)
Carefully remove the cap
Slowly pour 1 cup of vinegar into the pipe
Wait about 5–10 minutes
Put the cap back securely (make sure it is fully seated)
Turn the thermostats back ON
Important Notes:
The cap is part of a safety switch — it must be put back properly
Do NOT run the AC while the cap is removed
Pour slowly to avoid overflow
When to report an issue:
Contact management if you notice:
Water leaking near the unit
AC not cooling
Vinegar not draining or backing up
Any uncertainty about the process
Why this is needed:
The AC system produces condensation (water), which can lead to algae growth in the drain line. Vinegar helps prevent buildup and keeps the system working properly.
