Welcome to Golden Sun Childcare

Thank you for your interest in Golden Sun Childcare! My name is Nichole Johnson, and I am the owner of Golden Sun Childcare, serving families in Blue Hill, Sedgwick, Castine, Penebscot, and our surrounding communities. 

Golden Sun has a story that is very special to me. In 2019, a local childcare program in Blue Hill suddenly closed, leaving families without care and staff without a place to continue doing the work they loved. Our community came together in an incredible way. With the help of families, staff, countless donations, long days, and so much kindness and support, Golden Sun Childcare opened its doors in December 2019 — less than three months later! That community spirit has stayed at the heart of Golden Sun ever since, and when ever we can give back or help out we want to. 

I have worked with children for more than 20 years, and caring for children has always been something I truly love. I believe a childcare center should be more than a place where children spend their day. It should be a place where they feel safe, loved, encouraged, and excited to come through the door each morning. The people we hire at Golden Sun share that belief. Our staff understand that Golden Sun isn't simply a business or a group of childcare centers. These programs were built with the love and support of the communities around us, and we try to never to lose sight of that. 

We truly care about the children and families who walk through our doors. We want to know your child, celebrate who they are, help them learn and grow, and give them a place where they can play, make friends, explore, laugh, and simply enjoy being a kid. We are incredibly thankful for the families who trust us with their children and for the communities that have supported Golden Sun from the very beginning.
