☀️ Golden Sun Childcare is Coming to Castine!☀️ 

We are so excited to officially be bringing Golden Sun Childcare to Castine!

We will be working with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years! 

Offering Childcare from 7:00am-4:30pm Monday- Friday & Aftercare Monday- Friday from afterschool until 5:00pm

Our team has been busy getting the new space ready, and we can't wait to open the doors and welcome children and families from Castine and the surrounding communities.

Deanna Buck will be the Director of our Castine Center and will be taking the lead in creating a fun, loving, and welcoming environment for the children and families who join us. As we get closer to opening, we will be sharing more about Deanna, our teachers, classrooms, and all of the things we have planned for the center.

At Golden Sun, we are big believers that social and emotional development comes first. We want children to feel safe, loved, comfortable, and excited to come through our doors. We spend a lot of time helping children learn how to make friends, communicate their needs, work through big feelings, become more independent, and build confidence in themselves.

From there, learning happens naturally!

Our days include lots of learning through play, along with art, music, books, sensory activities, outdoor time, fine and gross motor activities, shapes, colors, letters, numbers, early literacy and math, and plenty of opportunities to explore and be creative.

Most importantly, we want kids to have fun and enjoy being kids. There will be plenty of messy projects, silly songs, running around, friendships, laughter, and those little everyday moments that end up meaning so much.

One of our favorite parts of Golden Sun is getting to watch children grow. Some children come to us when they are very little, and before we know it, we're watching them head off to big kid school. Getting to be part of all those milestones in between is something we never take for granted, and we are so excited to begin making those memories in Castine.

🏡 We Are Getting Ready!

We are currently working toward opening September 9th, 2026, depending on final preparations and licensing.

There is still plenty happening behind the scenes, so more information will be coming as we get closer to opening!

We are also planning an Open House so families and community members can come see the center, meet Deanna and our team, check out the classrooms, ask questions, and see what we've been working on. We will announce the date and details as soon as everything is ready.

We especially want to thank the Town of Castine and the community for voting for and choosing Golden Sun Childcare to run this program.

It truly means a lot to us.

Golden Sun started because a community came together when childcare was needed, so being welcomed into Castine and trusted to provide care for families here and in the surrounding towns feels pretty special.

We are thankful for the opportunity, excited for what's ahead, and can't wait to become part of the Castine community.

We also want to take a moment to give a HUGE thank you to Deanna for putting in so much time and hard work to help get our Castine center ready. There is so much that goes into opening a new center, and she has jumped right in and been such a big part of making this happen!

A special thank you to Kelly and Kianna as well. Along with Deanna and myself, they have spent hours at the center painting & cleaning things up, and helping turn an empty space into someplace really special for kids.

A huge thank you to Val, who has been working behind the scenes on a completely different side of opening a new center! He has been getting Brightwheel ready, creating countless forms, setting up enrollment, handling communications, and making sure all of our online pieces are ready to go when we begin welcoming families.

We also can't say thank you enough to the Town of Castine and people throughout Castine and the surrounding communities who have reached out, offered to help, who are gathering donated supplies, shared resources, and supported us along the way. It truly means so much.

There are SO many little pieces that go into opening a childcare center, and it really does take people coming together to make something like this happen. At the end of the day, we're all doing it for the kids. ❤️

Seeing our staff, the town, families, and surrounding communities come together to help create a place for children to learn, play, grow, and be cared for is what makes all of the hard work worth it.
