Rookie Rocks

The Rookie Rocks Bonspiel is aimed at brand new curlers in their first season. It will take place in the second half of the season so all new curlers get some coaching in before the event takes place. The draw will be shared late-December / early-January. The event starts at 1000 and follows on from the Sunday morning junior coaching session.

Originally this lovely silver trophy was donated by Mrs Anne Gumley in 1979 for an event played at Gogar Park Curling Club. The event was called the Tops Trophy and was a weekend event for teams of female curlers. Entry was by invitation, and it was for all the ‘top’ teams, hence the trophy name, the Tops Trophy. Each team was invited to the event following their ‘win’ at another event, ie the top teams from around the country. Following the closure of Gogar Park Curling Club, this event was no longer played. The trophy has been kindly gifted to Gogar Park Young Curlers by the Gumley family and is now presented to the winners of the Rookie Rocks event.
