Gogar Park Young Curlers is a junior curling club based in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. We have approximately 50 junior members (under age 21) with many newer young curlers starting to come through coaching to play in the junior leagues.
The club plays at Curl Edinburgh on Sunday mornings between October and March each year.
There are 3 main leagues that are contested for each season –
The Copland Cup is the club’s entry level competition, either for younger or newer curlers or for more experienced curlers moving up positions
The Almondfield Trophy is our middle league and gives everyone a chance to play in a new position and includes experienced and newer curlers.
The Edington Trophy is our premier league and includes all our most experienced club members.
We also have the Youngsters Cup and Rookie Rocks event which take place in the second half of the season, allowing newer curlers to join in game play.
Club members also compete in National competitions such as Under 12’s, Under 14’s, Under 15’s, Under 17’s and Under 21’s. These competitions are all played all around Scotland from as far south as Stranraer and as far north as Inverness. Gogar Park Young Curlers always has a healthy number of competitors at these events.
Gogar Park Young Curlers has coaching sessions on most Sundays throughout the season where players can come to practice a new skill or improve their existing skills. These sessions are a great place to meet new friends and have some fun curling while working towards the Scottish Curling Skills Awards.
The club is very fortunate to have a great band of volunteer coaches who give up their time on a Sunday morning to help junior curlers right through from beginners just start out to those taking part in national events.
