Assignment #1--Article Presentations
Each student will be assigned an article to present to the class. Your presentation should last 15 minutes. You may include one short video (2-3 min) if relevant. Do not read your presentation. Talk to us and look at classmates while presenting.
Prepare 9+ PowerPoint or Google Slides which include the following:
Illustrations/graphics on all slides--Include some recent photographs of the region and people in your PowerPoint--Include at least 8 photographs or graphics. As mentioned above you may include a short (2-3 min) video as part of your presentation if it's relevant.
First slide should include author, title of article, source (book or journal) and date of publication. (Include photo)
2nd Slide -- Include three maps side by side: 1. a map of the hemispheric(world/global) location(Eastern/Western, Northern, Southern). 2. a map of the continental location and 3. a map that zeros in on the specific location of the region/people/nation
3rd Slides -- Provide a very brief cultural/historical overview of your country/region (5 bullet points max) (Include photo)
4th and 5th Slide--Brief summary of the article or current political or cultural controversy. (Include photo)
6th Slide--Explain and show how the controversy has been amplified and publicized by use of pop culture media (social, tv, Tik Tok, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
7th Slide--Explain any mass street demonstrations or public events to promote the cause (Include photo)
8th Slide--Relate to current class readings or theories--
Make 2 points
9th Slide--Prediction for the future of the situation (Include photo)
Written Essay--Write up a three page summary of your presentation to be turned a week after you present--email as Word doc to Dr. Hollis
