Then in 1952, as Father Peyton took to the airwaves to broadcast his message “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together”, he turned to his friends at the Catholic Daughters to finance the $25,000 cost of his new venture in radio, fifteen half-hour dramatic presentations based on the mysteries of the Rosary. These radio programs were well received, made into records, and became instrumental in Father Peyton’s International Crusades, throughout which he inspired 28 million people to pray the Rosary.
In 1977 the Catholic Daughters of the Americas formally established Holy Cross Family Ministries as one of their top charities under the Family spoke of the CDA CIRCLE OF LOVE Program. The partnership has flourished and has been strengthened throughout the decades through engagement at the National Board and State Courts. The President and/or one of the Priests serving at HCFM have gathered together with the Catholic Daughters at most of the CDA Biennial Conventions over the last few decades. Father Fred Jenga, C.S.C., looks forward to attending the upcoming Biennial Convention in New Orleans.
A recent highlight in the CDA partnership was a visit by the National Board to The Father Peyton Center, for a day of prayer, fellowship, and ministry update with Father Fred Jenga and his team on our shared mission to families with We Prayed! A Campaign for Family Prayer. With a renewed spirit and refreshed vision, The campaign continues Father Peyton’s campaign he began 75 years ago for the spiritual development of families. The $6.1M capital campaign will transform The Father Peyton Center into a prayer destination for families, with a dignified resting place for Venerable Patrick Peyton, a beautiful Lourdes Grotto, and a Rosary Garden. Shortly after their visit, the National Board of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas made a $100,000 pledge to We Prayed! A Campaign for Family Prayer, which marks 75 years since their initial support of Father Peyton’s Crusade for Family Prayer.
