In order to open net_graph, you will need to first open console. (`)
In the console, you will need to type net_graph 4. To disable, do net_graph 0. You should have net_graph open during any time you are doing GM activities.
You will see a graph with lots of information in the bottom right corner of your screen.
When opening net_graph you will see lots of information and stats. The following is the explanation of such.
FPS:
This is the number of frames per second GMod is achieving, there is no standard value for this as it highly depends on your computer’s specs. Find out what your usual FPS value is by looking at it from time to time so you can understand when things are causing issues.
Ping:
This is your ping measured in milliseconds, in most cases, this should be below 100 however distance from the server, and player count can impact this.
In / Out:
This is the amount of bandwidth Garry’s mod is sending and receiving measured in B/ps, this is not important to monitor since ping will tell you when things of this nature are an issue
Loss / Choke:
Choke and loss measures the amount of Frame Loss and Server Chokes that are occurring. Choke is a server issue and means you should tone down your events. Loss means your computer can’t handle what’s going on.
SV / Var:
SV is the tick rate of the server, this should always be at 16 however at high player counts this can be lower. If you’re hosting an event and this value is low make sure to tone it down.
