The purpose of the SLP is to align and integrate state literacy initiatives, content standards, and state guidance documents to support teachers of students birth through grade twelve. (2021)

The goal of this toolkit is to facilitate a discussion about literacy in your LEA, including gathering stakeholders, evaluating literacy data, selecting evidence-based instructional strategies, planning for implementation, and tying your Local Literacy Plan to your LEA’s LCAP process.  Requires Google SSO to access.

The SBE (California State Board of Education) adopted the ELA/ELD Framework on July 9, 2014. This is the final digital version of the ELA/ELD Framework. Below are the specific chapters addressing K-6 grade literacy.

This publication is intended to assist in building awareness and understanding of how the CA ELD Standards correspond to the CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy.

The Standards set requirements not only for English language arts (ELA) but also for literacy in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects. Just as students must learn to read, write, speak, listen, and use language effectively in a variety of content areas, so too must the Standards specify the literacy skills and understandings required for college and career readiness in multiple disciplines.

The purpose of these guidelines is to assist regular education teachers, special education teachers, and parents in identifying, assessing,  and supporting students with dyslexia.

The Model School Library Standards for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve sets a groundbreaking vision for strong school library programs in California, including identification of the skills and knowledge essential for students to be information literate.
